Our client is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Machinist & Fitter to join their dynamic team. This is a great opportunity for someone with an engineering background with experience working on machinery to join a leading global organisation.
Duties include:
Setting up and operating a variety of manual machining equipment, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining requirements. Performing precision machining operations to fabricate, modify, or repair parts. Utilise precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality of machined components. Assembling and fitting machined parts to engineering specifications. Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications and make adjustments as necessary. Maintaining machinery and equipment by performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical issues. Adhering to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organised work environment. Any other duties required. The successful candidate will have / be:
An Engineering qualification or have completed an Engineering Apprenticeship.Proven experience as a manual machinist within a manufacturing environment. Proficient in setting up and operating machinery.Strong knowledge of machining techniques and practices.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges. Familiarity with various cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices.Good understanding of metal properties and machining parameters. Solid problem–solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
