Live in Couple required for a private home in Hertfordshire, an hour North of London. The couple must be trustworthy, organised and adaptable to work as a Cook and Housekeeper for a couple in their home.
The Housekeeper would be expected to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the large home, as well as general housekeeping duties, including cleaning of silver, hand washing of delicate fabrics and ironing. You would also assist with the setting up, serving and clearing during functions.
The Cook would be expected to provide breakfast and lunch and prepare an evening meal for supper, ready to be cooked by the family. During the week you will be cooking for 2. However, some of their family visit on weekends and during the school holidays, so the volume of food would be greater during these times. The ability to prepare vegetarian dishes and puddings is also required. Occasionally, driving the couple will also be required.
During quiet times, some light gardening, pool maintenance and car cleaning may also be required. They have chickens, and a dog that requires feeding and walking at times.
You will be working alongside another couple, so the ability to get along well with others and work as part of a team is important.
Hours of work
Thursday to Monday – 8am-5pm. Including a 30 minute tea break and 1 hour for lunch. Any over time will be given as time in lieu. Tuesdays and Wednesdays off.
You will be provided with a lovely 2 bedroom, fully furnished (or unfurnished) cottage with all utility bills paid, and a car with unlimited fuel.
It is essential that at least one of you has a driver's licence, and fluent English is essential. You must be non-smoker. Pets will be considered. Older children coming with the couple will also considered (not very young babies). Essential you are able to work in the UK legally.
Salary guide: £ DOE (depends on experience). 2 bedroom private cottage provided with garden, all bills paid (including internet, TV licence etc), and car provided for both work and personal use with all fuel costs covered. 20 days holiday plus bank holidays (to be taken in lieu if you work bank holidays). Paid on a payroll with statutory pension etc.
