My story

　　Meet Lilly, a 5-year-old female German Shepherd. Lilly is a fabulous lady.

　　She is a large girl at over 70 pounds but she doesn't seem that big.

　　Lilly does good on her leash and loves treats.

　　She doesn't seem to have had an easy life up to this point and really needs a forever family that will give her a soft place to land. Please do your breed research before applying to adopt Lilly. German Shepherds and GSD mixes are a special breed of dog with special requirements. These dogs were bred to have a job, and without the right activity level/purpose they won't flourish which can lead to issues down the road. These dogs are incredibly smart and need to be challenged both physically and mentally to really be happy. The German Shepherd is known to be vocal when excited and can be a bit mouthy at times, proper training is key in helping your German Shepherd adjust to their new life. German Shepherds are a fun, athletic breed that many have fallen in love with over the years, but please keep their breed needs in mind when considering adding one to your household.This pet is available for adoption on 1/15/24 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.

While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known.
