Academics are currently looking for experienced Learning Support Worker's for a variety of day-to-day and short/long term supply opportunities. Working within secondary schools across Stoke-on-Trent & Newcastle-under-Lyme can be varied and therefore we proudly work with an assortment of secondary schools that have different requirements to suit.
Our opportunities are great as they allow our staff to be flexible with the days that they wish to work and these roles do have the potential of leading to more long-term and permanent contracts in some of our schools.
The Learning Support Worker's main responsibility is to support a learner with either diverse learning needs or special educational needs. They will ensure that the learner(s) progress and those they can participate in the activities generally undertaken by the other learners in the classroom.
Responsibilities of a Learning Support Worker include:
Providing learning support for learners in a classroom environment or in 1:1 situations.Running specific activities to assist the learner's individual learning and social needs.Working as part of the team to ensure that the well-being and personal development of the learner enhances their learning opportunities and life skills.Providing positive praise and reinforcements to learners.Applicants who apply will:
Have attained LSW status through the appropriate training and previous experience of working with children with special educational needs.Have GCSE, 'O' Level or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths, as well as the relevant L3 NVQ or equivalent as recognised by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning.Be aware of the national curriculum and to you will be able to develop content with an enthusiastic approach.As calls for work can be from 7.00am in a morning, so you will be able to get to our partnership schools in Stoke-on-Trent & Newcastle-under-Lyme by 8.30am, sometimes with only 30-60 minute's notice.Be able to work flexible between Monday to Friday. Usual working hours are between 8.30am-3.30pm.Ideally have a fully Enhanced DBS certificate that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be happy to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with ourselves (cost applied).Academics are a leading national education agency that specialises in the recruitment of permanent, long term and daily supply teachers and support staff.
