Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / East Grinstead Area
Class Cover are activley seeking a year 1 LSA to work with a chilld with Autism, in a School located on the outskirts of East Grinstead asap. A DBS on the up-date service is required in the first intance. This job is part time 8.30 till 1.00 but could extend for the right candidate.
Job Overview: A Learning Support Assistant is responsible for working closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and specific children to ensure that all children receive the necessary support and accommodations to succeed academically and socially. They help promote an inclusive learning environment and assist with various classroom activities.
Classroom Assistance: Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans, classroom activities, and instructional materials. This includes helping with classroom management, setting up equipment, and preparing resources.
Individualized Support: Adapt and modify learning materials and activities to meet the specific needs of individual students. This may involve creating alternative learning strategies or resources.
Behavioral Support: Assist in managing challenging behavior, applying behavioral interventions, and helping students develop appropriate social skills.
Assessment: Support teachers in assessing student progress and gather data on student performance. This information can be used to tailor instruction and support plans.
Personal Care: Depending on the age group and needs of the students, LSAs may be required to assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, feeding, and mobility.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the student's education. Report progress and challenges to the appropriate parties.
Inclusion and Integration: Promote an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and included. Encourage peer interaction and participation.
Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, following school policies and procedures.
Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in special education and attend training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
