Title: Lead Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Salary: 60,000 - 70,000
My client is searching for a Lead Geotechnical Engineer to join their interdisciplinary design and engineering practice in Birmingham. Our client is a well-known market participant, active in schemes at all phases of the life cycle spanning national and international industrial projects, such as ground engineering, roads, rail systems, and tunnelling, to mention a few.
The applicant would be in charge of managing an innovative design team in London, with the goal of expanding their understanding of essential geotechnical concepts across the firm. The individual will be expected to play a crucial role in directing big projects to fulfil the sector's expanding expectations and to serve as a mentor to other team members in their own growth.
Qualifications & Experience
Have a bachelor's degree and, ideally, a postgraduate qualification in a relevant topic.Chartered Civil Engineer and professional civil engineer.Extensive geotechnical design, analysis, numerical modelling, and data interpretation experience.Experience designing and analysing deep piled foundations and pile groups, deep excavations, basements, retaining structures, earthworks, soil and rock slope engineering, and ground improvement recommendations.Responsibilities
Lead projects, within both the UK and overseas.Oversee all project aspects relating to technical delivery, forecasting, and budgeting, planning, and resourcing.Act as a mentor to graduate and other junior members of staff within their development and processes relating to their Chartership.Seek out and develop new business opportunities as well as build on current client relationships.Help and support a high degree of technical proficiency in the relevant field as needed to provide the intended service offerings.Desired Skills
Proficiency in 2D and 3D finite element analysis software (e.g. PLAXIS, Z-soil).Exposure to other geotechnical software (WALLAP, gINT, Apile, Repute, GROUP or similar).Prior experience using 2D and 3D computer-aided design and engineering tools (CAD and CAE).
