Our client, a specialist consultancy, requires a consultant to join their growing team. Joining part of the management team, this role will bridge the gap between commercial requirements from their customer base and the lab–based technical team. We are not expecting expertise in all areas but a strong technical knowledge of rubbers / polymers would be key.
The role will involve: –
Providing expertise to clients on the physical testing of rubbers / polymersDefining technical scope for projects to deliver effective solutionsAdvising clients on test requirements and analytical capabilities, identifying new business opportunities and maximizing revenues from existing clientsDetailed report writing, proposal writing, etcConducting client focused training in your area of specialism as the subject matter expert A suitable background could include: –
You will probably have a degree (Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or similar) although significant industry experience will be considered as wellYou will have strong industrial experience with an awareness of industrial processes, and relevant troubleshooting skillsYou will be able to consult with clients on the pain points in their processes with significant experience in fault and failure diagnosis. The ability to understand why a component has failed and the implication of that failure is keyAt some point of your career, you will likely have been a lab tech for a period although that doesn't have to be recentYou will be a technical expert in plastics or rubbersA proactive approach to problem solvingGood customer facing skills – ability to be the subject matter expert to clients with specific issues with relevant account management experienceSolid report writing and documentation skills This requirement of this role span both commercial and technical and it will be varied by nature.
