Who'd be interested in starting a London based reading group on the work of psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan?
Probably we'd start with reading the seminars. Todd McGowan's 'Captialism and Desire' is another Lacanian book on the table as a potential starting point. I suppose we'd need to read some Freud as well. I have pdfs.
I haven't read much Lacan myself yet but I find people that use a Lacanian framework to be so insightful on any given topic. See for example The Lack Podcast, Sheldon George, Todd McGowan and Slavoj Zizek. (all have videos on youtube). They all apply Lacanian frameworks to film, literature, culture, politics etc.
No psychoanalytic/academic background needed. I suggest doing basic organisation and sharing resources online, then reading independently, then discussing in a pub twice a month.
