Labourer / Forklift Operator – Structural Steel Fabrication Company

Salary: GBP28,080 – GBP32,760 paLocation: Harlow, EssexJob Type: Permanent, Full–time Job Summary:We are seeking a motivated Labourer, ideally with a Counterbalance Forklift licence to join this family owned structural steel fabrication company. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for painting steel beams, parallel flanges, keeping the yard area clean and organised, operating a forklift truck to move beams around the yard, loading and unloading lorries, performing grinding and fettling tasks, and assisting with minor fabrication work. There will also be opportunities to learn welding and fabrication skills.

Responsibilities:

Paint universal steel beams, columns, parallel flanges according to specifications, ensuring a high–quality finish.Keep the yard area clean and free from debris by sweeping, removing trash, and organising materials.Operate a forklift truck to safely and efficiently move steel beams around the yard.Load and unload lorries using appropriate handling equipment and techniques.Perform grinding and fettling tasks to prepare steel beams for fabrication and construction.Assist with minor fabrication work, such as cutting, drilling, and assembling components.Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, reporting any defects or issues.Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and goals.Take initiative to learn and develop welding and fabrication skills, utilising available training opportunities. Requirements:

Proven experience as a Labourer / Forklift Operator within a yard or similar setting.Any knowledge or experience in painting steel beams, an advantage.Proficient in operating a forklift truck, with a valid counterbalance license.Familiarity with grinding and fettling tasks, as well as minor fabrication work.Basic understanding of welding and fabrication processes is a plus.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.Excellent teamwork and communication skills.Commitment to safety protocols and guidelines.Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines. Salary Guide: GBP12.00 – GBP14.00 per, Overtime paid at time and a half Working hours: 7.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday – 45 hours per week
