Exciting opportunity to join a successful publishing house who produce local and regional lifestyle magazines .

Responsibilities include :

Sourcing stories and features for the magazines

Proofing articles to ensure grammar and spelling is correctProofing other reporters' magazinesConducting interviews for stories both in person and over the phoneManaging/creating news listsEnsuring the magazines have a balance of editorial coverage (news, crime, features)Suggesting cover ideas (headlines and pictures) to the news editorWriting catchy headlines and picture captionsLiaising with the other reporters to keep track of the progress of the magazinesMaintaining strong relationships with the local contacts, e.g. MPs local councillors, and residentsUpdating Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts dailyCreating weekly videos on local stories, ensuring a variety of topics are covered. Candidates will need to be creative, resourceful, communicative and able to meet tight deadlines with efficient and eye-catching copy.

The successful candidate is likely to have an academic background in Journalism or Media, NCTJ helpful but not essential, have an excellent command of English grammar, spelling and comprehension, be motivated and work well in a collaborative team environment.
