EXTERIOR
The eye-catching Chilli Pepper metallic paintwork presents in exceptional condition and, quite remarkably, it's original throughout. In line with the low mileage of 18k there are very few imperfections to report, the lights are immaculate, and even finer details such as the pinstripes and badges are perfect. The glass is all-original and the bodywork is free from corrosion. A particularly smart and surely unrepeatable example with excellent provenance to match.
INTERIOR
Inside you're still greeted by that new car smell. The electrically-adjustable grey cloth seats are pristine and you'll be hard-pushed to find any marks on the centre console, dash, or switchgear. The leather steering wheel is also very well presented and everything works just as it should, from the original cassette radio to the ice-cold air conditioning. The footwell carpets are well protected by the original overmats, the rear seats look like new, and the generous boot area is also particularly clean and tidy, still housing the parcel shelf and spare wheel.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Barely run-in with only 18,634 miles under its belt, this 4-litre Cherokee is an absolute pleasure to drive. Having been under the same careful ownership since new the car has wanted for very little over the years. The owner has always kept on top of the maintenance and accordingly the service book is stamped 13 times, the first 10 of which are from the supplying main dealer, Marshall of Peterborough. The last service was carried out in August 2023 at 18,615 miles.
HISTORY FILE
This striking XJ Cherokee was registered to its first and only keeper in March 1998. It was supplied new by Marshall of Peterborough, and pleasingly their rear window sticker and registration plates can still be found on the car today. The accompanying History File comprises the original Jeep document wallet and all handbooks, the stamped service booklet, a think raft of maintenance invoices, the original order form and bill of sale from March 1998, the spare key and remote fob, every single MOT certificate, and the V5C showing 0 former keepers.
The majority of the car's miles were driven in the first ten years of its life. Since 2008 it has been tucked away and driven sparingly, covering little more than 2,600 miles in the last 15 years. Three services have been carried out during this time (most recently in August 2023) but it has always been MOT'd annually. The service history is as follows:
14/10/1998 at 5,488 miles - Marshall Jeep
26/03/1999 at 7,984 miles - Marshall Jeep
08/10/1999 at 10,387 miles - Marshall Jeep
