This lovely vintage bone china trinket/pill box is made by Jean Mercer who worked for the renowned Villeroy & Boch factory before parting ways. It is made in England.
This particular piece is a small motif piece with a detachable lid. It has a picture on the lid and several around the circumference as well as one on the base of the inside. The image shown is of a flower in yellow. It has the name in Latin written on the lid which is Ranunculus sevens. The genus name Ranunculus means rana or frog and the suffix culus means small thus 'little frog' literally. The English name is creeping buttercup or spo-leaved crowfoot. It is native to Europe, Asia and North West Africa. The item has the makers mark/stamp to the base.
This would make an attractive addition to any china collection and would look great on any mantlepiece or in any display unit. It would also make a functional and pretty addition to any home ie for small jewellery or key storage. It would be a great gift - especially with Valentine's Day and Easter approaching!
It is in immaculate pre-owned condition. Buyer must collect from Chepstow, Monmouthshire or Brixham or Totnes, Devon at an agreed time. Alternatively, I am happy to package and post for the associated costs. Needs to go asap.
