Very old James McIntosh Patrick oak framed & mounted fine art print.
WINTER IN ANGUS
Brass plaque to bottom of frame with title and artist name.
Originally supplied by SHERBOURNE (SAVILE ROW) LTD FINE ARTS.
I don’t know what type of print it is but looking at it using a jewellers loupe there are no tiny dots, the texture of it gives the appearance of gouache such is the quality.
The frame is so old that and such high quality that I don’t want to take the back apart to see if any more information is hidden behind the mount etc.
On the back board there are numbers 53 in a circle and 270 so it gives me the feeling it may be a very early limited edition?
The frame measures 25 1/8” inches wide by 19 1/2” inches high.
The width of the wood of the frame is approx 1” inch at the front and 1 1/2” inches at the back where a 1” wooden strip holds everything in the frame, the frame is approx 2” inches thick plus the wooden strip at back making total of approx 2 1/4” inches thick.
The high quality mount is visibly 1” inch wide and approx 1/4” inch thick.
Visible print size is 21 3/8” inches wide by 15 3/4” inches high.
It is quite heavy due to the oak frame so will need good wall fixings to hang from.
Ready to hang with very strong fixings on the back of the frame.
Pre owned in excellent vintage condition I imagine it is Edwardian.
May be light surface marks to frame but absolutely excellent original condition.
