This is an absolutely AMAZING-LOOKING Thimble, which would make a fantastic present for someone special!
This thimble is of a unique Thai design ~ in Thailand, thimbles are apparently termed 'Polk Suam Niew'. It purchased from 'The Thimble Guild' either in 1998 or 2002, when they had them for sale. It is made of glass, cut or blown, to produce a flat, circular spiral base, and a delicate, intricate, 'woven lattice' effect to the sides. The sides rise at right angles to the base, and very slightly taper in towards the top.
The whole thing stands at a fraction over 2½ cms tall, and the base diameter is a sliver over 1 cm.
The Thimble was purchased new. It is unused, unmarked and in great condition - look at my photos, including a photo kindly provided by one of my customers, showing the original advert in a TG catalogue. There are a couple of tiny lines in the base, which appear to run in from the glass threads in the sides, and may be manufacturing flaws. They cannot be seen when the thimble is sitting on a surface, and do not affect the integrity of the thimble. This is a really delicate and unusual item, it positively sparkles.
I am selling a number of very collectable THIMBLES, of various materials, purchased several years ago from The Thimble Guild.
I CAN POST ANY THIMBLE AT COST. JUST ASK ME.
