Description

Our client is a privately owned residential care home in Crumpsall Manchester, providing personal and nursing care to up to 26 service users. The service primarily provides support to adults living with mental health conditions.

The service is currently looking for a new Home Manager who can maintain the welfare of the residents/staff/visitors and to ensure appropriate standards are maintained.

Main responsibilities:

Professional and managerial:

To manage all staff, within the home including nurses, carers ,domestic, catering, activity and maintenance staff.

To take a lead role in the recruitment/selection/ induction/supervision of the staff.

To monitor staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge and are competent to carry out the requirements of their role.

To influence the health and safety of the home by taking the lead role in maintaining generic risk assessments for equipment, operations and processes within the home.

Report any health and safety issues/ concerns to ensure a safe environment is maintained for staff and residents.

To prepare the home for CQC inspections and to aim for excellence in all outcome groups during the inspection process.

Clinical:

To ensure residents are protected from harm and/or abuse by complying with the local multi-agency policy and ensuring staff awareness and compliance with this policy.

To maintain good working relationships with residents, staff, General Practitioners, social workers, psychiatrists, pharmacists and other health professionals within the multi-disciplinary team to promote residents health, safety and welfare.

To ensure qualified nurses practice according to local, national and professional guidelines in the ordering, receipt, storage, administration, recording and disposal of medicines.

To be responsible for carrying out regular medication audits using recognised tools as part of the system of quality assurance.

To monitor the work of qualified nurses in acting as primary nurses and in their duties to assess, plan, implement, review and record plans of care for residents.

Provide support, guidance and leadership to both qualified nurses and carers in the operation of a primary nurse/key worker system to coordinate the delivery of individualised care plans for residents that reflect the principles of independence, privacy, autonomy, respect, choice, dignity, involvement and inclusion.

To monitor the quality and frequency of resident's daily records by undertaking care plan audits using recognised tools.

To be responsible for coordinating and running meetings with staff and residents as part of the system of quality assurance within the home.

Administrative:

To use appropriate documentation to record and investigate complaints/concerns and follow recognised policies and procedures for their management and resolution.

To ensure compliance with accident recording procedures and ensure that untoward incidents are dealt with in accordance with local and national policies.

Take a lead role in the quality assurance within the home by carrying out regular audits, meetings and acting on issues raised following resident/relative surveys.

Ensure that residents records and other documentation within the home is full, accurate and kept confidential.

To maintain up to date, accurate and comprehensive records that you are personally accountable for and monitor the quality of records written by other staff in the home.

Human Resources:

To ensure that acceptable levels of staff are on duty at all times to meet the needs of residents and only authorising the use of agency staff when all regular staff and bank staff have been contacted.

Utilise local systems for personal development planning, supervision and appraisal of staff and ensure compliance with national minimum standards.

Take part in internal investigation and disciplinary procedures when required.
