SC ClearanceOrganisational skillsTeam player Previous legal or policy experience is desirable, but absolutely not essential.
Liaising with the legal advisor team on litigation cases.
Advising on legal policy matters for ARAP and Leave Outside the Rules (LOTR) cases, processes, and emerging issues.Working closely with the Government Legal Department to provide policy input to live legal cases, and manage risks arising from Judicial Reviews that the organisation is exposed to.Engaging with the rest of the legal policy team, the Senior Leadership team in the DARR, including the relevant Deputy- Directors, so they are aware of issues and can provide seniorinput to decision-making.Identifying pertinent information from case working and eligibility files to clearly articulate how and why decisions were made regarding an applicant s case and across wider cohorts.Ensuring good information management practices, to help prepare for legal cases.Leading for the team on dismissals litigation and linking in with other teams in DARR on this topic.Liaising with cross-government representatives on ARAP and resettlement legal issues, including FCDO and Home Office.Ensuring coherence of outputs with Policy, Casework and Secretariat teams.Keeping track of key deadlines as part of a busy portfolio and prioritising within this, to ensure equities are protected This will involve engaging with Ministerial, legal and senior advice, working with others teams across the Directorate and managing any litigation relating to this. Good attention to detail and honed communication and engagement skills to explain, clarify and articulate the ARAP policy and legal position to a wide audience (including external lawyers) are important.
