Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Regulation and Policy, this role is part of the LSB's Senior Leadership Team. You will:

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute to the overall leadership and running of the organisation Shape the LSB's ongoing strategic direction and oversee development of the annual business plan Develop and operationalise the LSB's enhanced market surveillance function to enable us to better detect detriment in the legal services sector, and inform appropriate action where necessary. Oversee the LSB's research team and research budget (GBP232k for 2023/24) and ensure high quality and accessible outputs Line manage approximately 6 policy and research professionals Work closely with the Director, Regulation and Policy, Head, Performance and Oversight and Head, Policy & Delivery to ensure effective overall leadership of the Regulation and Policy Directorate Attend LSB Board meetings and represent the LSB with a wide range of external stakeholders. Skills and Experience

Essential:

Senior level experience of delivering high quality strategy development, identifying evidence gaps and designing innovative research solutions to address them Ability to develop and draw insights from market surveillance tools to help identify detriment and harm at a nascent stage, to inform appropriate action. Strong leadership and people management skills - establishing an inclusive working environment in which colleagues from a range of backgrounds can thrive Ability to identify where there is a case for regulatory intervention and lead change and improvement in the legal services market, bringing stakeholders with us Strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion as a colleague and a regulator Excellent oral and written communication skills. Desirable experience:

Working in regulation or a regulated sector Commissioning, overseeing and deploying independent research Developing and implementing market surveillance functions. Benefits

Salary: Up to GBP84,000 per annum (plus 10% flexible benefits allowance)

Job type: The LSB prides itself on its flexible working policies and we welcome applicants who would like to work full-time (35 hours per week) or on a flexible basis.

We offer a competitive salary, a defined contribution pension scheme with an employer's contribution of 12% of salary, a benefits allowance of 10% of salary (which can be taken as cash) and an annual leave entitlement of 25 days in addition to statutory bank holidays, and three days' closure over Christmas.

Location

The LSB has a strong and established culture of flexible working. Our office is based in London and has sufficient capacity to allow for office-based working. However, there are only limited occasions during the year where in person presence is required (Board meetings, away days or other specific cases of business need). We therefore have a number of colleagues who live across the UK.
