Head of Service - Repairs & Maintenance

We are currently looking to build a new team of four Heads of Service to join our friendly dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage, lead and develop multi-service operations teams; Each Head of Service will use their commercial acumen and industry knowledge to implement appropriate strategies to ensure all aspects of the repairs and maintenance function are managed are delivered to a range of clients including social housing, schools, public and private sector clients.

What we are looking for:

As the Head of Service, you will play a crucial role in leading teams to drive performance improvement and value for money in our repairs service across a blended supply chain. Key responsibilities include leading the Direct Labour Organisation, ensuring Health and Safety compliance, managing subcontractors, and enhancing service quality systems.

Qualifications

HNC/HND in construction or related subject and/or equivalent working knowledge (Essential).Degree qualification (Desirable).Membership of RICS or CIOB (Desirable). Experience

Experience leading, coaching, and supporting the Repairs and Maintenance Team delivering excellent, consistent, and reliable customer services.Experience identifying and improving actions, executing them compliantly and efficiently within time, cost, and quality targets.Experience taking the lead in executing and assuring all relevant Health and Safety policies, ensuring it is at the core of service quality.Experience proactively monitoring team performance, evaluating training needs, and addressing underperformance effectively and promptly. Skills and Abilities

Relevant experience in a senior leadership role in a reactive maintenance setting, including managing a Direct Labour Organisation.Experience in governing and managing subcontractor supply chains for value for money.Good understanding of Health and Safety statutory and best practice standards.Strong financial acumen and proven experience managing substantial budgets.Ability to analyse financial and operational data, present well-evidenced solutions to stakeholders.Knowledge and experience of leading, coaching, and supporting teams for continuous improvement in a high-pressure environment.Resilience and ability to remain calm under pressure.Self-motivated and able to use own initiative to unlock solutions to problems.IT literate, proficient in Excel and other analytical software.Experience in delivering reactive repair services into a Care and Support environment (desirable).Experience in procurement of services (desirable).
