The Royal Opera House (ROH) is among the world`s most celebrated arts institutions and home to two world class performing companies - The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera, both supported by the equally renowned Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
We tell stories from the great works of the past to new commissions reflecting contemporary culture and concerns. We work with leading creative teams and performers from around the world and while our theatres are in London, our work and educational programmes are accessed and experienced across the UK and globally through touring partnerships, cinema, radio, TV, streaming and online.
We are now seeking to recruit a leading communications and media professional to deliver impactful and effective media relations campaigns for The Royal Opera, including work presented both on our stages and digitally, and the Company`s other artistic collaborations. You will ensure that the Company receives a consistently high and positive standard of media coverage across its range of activities, devising innovative and engaging campaigns that help reach new audiences and promote ROH as a cultural visitor destination in the heart of Covent Garden.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, with excellent project management skills and the ability to work accurately under pressure, with a strong level of attention to detail and a continuous commitment to delivering a high standard of work. You will bring leadership to a small team, with experience of effective resource allocation.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
A successful track record of working in strategic communications in a busy Press Office, at a senior level and with an established network of press and industry contacts.
Experience devising impactful press and managing sensitive/critical issues to a successful outcome.
Demonstrated ability in delivering successful campaigns, that secure high-profile press, digital content and coverage that drives sales and positive engagement.
The ability to develop ideas for editorial content for the website, social media and other digital media platforms.
Experience managing challenging relationships and ensure positivity across all internal stakeholders.
Some knowledge of and interest in opera/classical music with the ability to learn more as relevant to the role, maintaining an understanding of repertoire and artists.
Experience of promoting the work of artists or other talent and understanding and experience of the needs and working methods of artists and theatre personnel.
