Coeliac UK currently has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Food Policy, to join our team in High Wycombe, with the possibility to regularly work from home by prior agreement with your line manager. You will join us on a full time, fixed term basis (Maternity cover for months). In return you will receive a competitive salary of GBP39,500 - GBP44,000 based on experience.
Coeliac UK represents over 60,000 members providing information and support to those affected by coeliac disease or following a gluten free diet. We also campaign on behalf of all those living with coeliac disease and undertake research into the causes of the disease.
The Head of Food Policy role:
As our Head of Food Policy, you will provide the charity with a focus on food information and any related technical and research activities to inform charity policy and deliver strategic aims.
Key responsibilities of the Head of Food Policy:
Conducting intelligence gathering, horizon scanning and consultations on food policy and legislation to represent the charity effectively Contributing to the development of the evidence base in the area of the gluten free diet, supporting charity policy and strategic aims Critically analysing the evidence and ensure that information on food and the gluten free diet is up-to-date, quality assured and transferable to all necessary areas of work whether for use internally or with external stakeholders Managing, supporting and develop one full time equivalent and one part time equivalent members of staff, to maintain high quality standards and services in line with the charity s policies and values. In particular, the technical guidance for the charity s food safety schemes. Assisting in the development and review of Coeliac UK standards and policy positions regarding food information and legislation and ensure compliance with external standards. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Membership Services, and the Commercial team, to ensure compliance with internal food standards in the production of the food information services. Advising and liaising with Membership Services, the Communications team and other teams on the development and update of food information for members and other stakeholders organisation-wide Representing the charity among stakeholders from the food sector Speaking at food conferences and exhibitions on behalf of the charity To have a continuing plan for personal development Essential experience, skills and knowledge required for the Head of Food Policy role:
Educated to degree standard preferably within food science, technology or nutrition Essential to have a good knowledge of food policy, quality assurance and nutritional sciences Keeps up to date with current food legislation and quality assurance schemes in order to provide up to date information across the organisation Ability to lead and make decisions on developing and implementing standards in relation to food information and standards Understands stakeholder needs and identifies solutions Motivated, cooperative team player with practical and can do attitude incorporating a flexible approach Understanding of scientific evidence base and research and ability to critically review scientific literature If you would like to be considered as our Head of Food Policy, please apply now with your CV and cover letter.
