Job Title: Head of EngineeringLocation: SurreyWorking Hours usually days 37.5 hours per weekResponsible to: Technical Services DirectorSalary: Up to GBP70k per annum plus benefitsRoles & ResponsibilitiesWorking in a fast–paced and guest–facing business, The Head of Engineering is accountable for overseeing the day–to–day operations of the engineering department. You are responsible for managing and developing the department to ensure that the rides always remain reliable and safe, and that vehicles are safe and fit for purpose. This includes planning all elements of ride management, including both annual and through–life maintenance plans.You will be an energetic, dynamic, and motivational leader, delivering complex maintenance activities across your multi–faceted engineering teams. You will an understanding and a consideration for the needs of all key stakeholders, across Chessington's departments. With your previous experiences, you will suggest and champion new innovative ways of operating and improving your KPI's with a broader view of enhancing the guests' experiences and increasing our guest throughput.Our team members are enthusiastic and motivated to deliver and improve the service we provide, while having a sense of fun and community that comes from working with Merlin Entertainments and Chessington World of Adventures Resort.Qualifications & Experience Significant experience and knowledge of Planned Preventative Maintenance within an Engineering orientated domain, with a Maintenance strategy qualification. Experience of managing and engaging technical teams to deliver results within a time–critical operation. Experience of managing change and employee relations. Minimum HND or above qualification in a maintenance management or engineering environment or equivalent experience Project management experience (PMP, APM OR Prince) Management or leadership qualification and experience Energetic, dynamic, and motivational leader, with proven managerial skills who can get the most out of a large team. Excellent communication skills being able to communicate and present to a wide range of audiences, and in a structured way, using data and S/W tools. A working knowledge of the ADIPS scheme and HSE document HSG175 would be ideal. Good understanding of health and safety legislation, ability to demonstrate implementation of health and safety procedures in safety critical environments. Strong analytical skills and numerate, comfortable with the review and development of management information; IT literate – can develop and interpret spreadsheets.
