Head Grower
South Yorkshire
Up to GBP70k DOE
Fancy moving your holiday from Majorca to The Maldives?
Picture this.
You're already working in a commercial growing environment and get to spread your enthusiasm across a small team.
But you know you're capable of more.
What if you can do this in a multi-site business, which gives you real knowledge-sharing opportunities?
What if you can be that person that people come to for advice across not only your site but others too?
What if all this knowledge you hold is passed on to people who care, almost as much as you?
What you'll be doing
You'll be managing the technical growing of a 14Ha glasshouse, specialising in salad crops. It'll include husbandry, crop planning, IPM, irrigation and everything in between.
The Site Operations Manager is there to do the labour management, quality checks etc - so you truly get to focus on growing quality produce.
You'll report to the Director of Growing. He wants to hear your thoughts, opinions and past experience and create a culture promoting continuous improvement.
There are also regular growing meetings within the businesses, where growers get to meet, and share frustrations, knowledge, and best practice with the wider team.
You'll already know being a grower can sometimes be quite a lonely job, and these meetings are there to stop that feeling.
What do I need?
Commercial growing experience. You'll be coming in at a senior level, so you need to know what you're doing.
Protected salad experience would be great - but experience in protected cropping in any capacity will prove useful.
You'll know your stuff when it comes to IPM, crop planning and all things crops.
