About the role
The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

You'll be joining the MOPAC Directorate of Audit, Risk and Assurance on an 18th month fixed contract, a well-respected unit that has the interesting and challenging job of providing the internal audit service for a number of clients including the Metropolitan Police Service, the London Fire Brigade and the Greater London Authority.
You will be part of the DARA Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the development of audit strategies, assurance and consultancy activities to promote and maintain a first-class professional service across the client base. You will be responsible for developing and delivering an audit plan of strategic reviews looking primarily at governance and programme/portfolio management activities across a client base undergoing significant transformation. This offers you a rich variety of challenges and the opportunity to influence change at a senior level in each client business.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
Senior management experience in internal audit is required, with a focus on providing real-time risk and control advice for major change programs and at the Board level. Confidence, integrity, and senior-level operational ability are crucial attributes for the successful candidate. A comprehensive understanding of current internal audit concepts, standards, and procedures is essential, along with the ability to apply them in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Qualification to at least QIAL, CIIA, or CCAB level, and a current member of the appropriate professional body are prerequisite for the role. Applying for the Role

Political Restriction
Political Restriction: under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011), all MOPAC staff members will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.
Security Vetting Clearance
The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting, which may take around eight weeks to complete. Applicants must possess the legal right to work in the UK and have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.

Where are we based?
We have moved to a hybrid working model with office hubs at Union Street (near London Bridge) and Newlands Park (postcode SE26). On average, staff will work 1-2 days a week from an Office Hub, which may differ depending on the role requirements.
