Groundsperson - Salisbury Racecourse
Circa 29,000 (based on 40 hr week) + Benefits
Salisbury Racecourse requires a full-time grounds-person to join the small and committed existing team. The racecourse annually stages 15 days of Flat Horseracing between early May and early October, however, the position is all year round.
Reporting to the Head Groundsman, the role includes all aspects of track and the estate maintenance, including, but not limited to: mowing, strimming, irrigating the racecourse, moving the racing running rail, putting out furniture for race meetings, and keeping the site tidy. The racecourse is a dynamic business and so a flexible approach is needed.
Using various machinery and vehicles including ride-on mowers, tractors, and the course irrigation machine is all part of the role.
The work entails being mainly outside in changing and sometimes challenging weather conditions and is often physically demanding.
Due to the nature of the role, working unsocial hours, including weekends and evenings can sometimes be required during the racing season.
Overtime is paid for hours worked over and above those contracted.
The individual should have excellent time management skills and attendance records; works well under pressure and is well organised.
