Global Crisis Communications & Issues Senior Manager
Overview:
We have an opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join our global team. Focused primarily on strategic issues and crisis communications, the successful candidate will play a key role in crisis preparedness and planning, designing and executing PwC's response when high profile issues arise. They will also conduct impact monitoring and analysis. The post holder will work as part of the global external communications function and in addition to crisis communications work, will contribute to broader corporate communications work delivered by the team.
The successful applicant will:
Play a leading role in crisis and issues management for the PwC global network when high profile issues arise
Be versed in proactive reputation strategies that help to inoculate the network from potential threats - including monitoring, reporting and scenario planning
Oversee production of regular reputation risk reports that provide data-driven insights to network leaders
Be on-call to handle crisis situations whenever they break
Be responsible for the production of action plans and other deliverables, such as Q&A documents, talking points, media statements
Review and challenge the work and contributions of others as required
Support the development of proactive strategies to mitigate and manage network-wide risks as required
Create frameworks/materials to facilitate effective and appropriate decision making at the network level in the event of a crisis
Assist in identifying and discussing key issues with senior network leaders to surface potential reputation opportunities and risks, helping to increase senior leaders' confidence in the department's ability to respond to crises.
Contribute to horizon scanning, scenario and strategic risk analysis to help identify, quantify, evaluate and plan for 'next wave' reputation and policy risks within the context of the network's new strategy and positioning
Contribute to the broader global communications team on reputation management strategy and campaign implementation
Work with senior leaders in the team to support the development and implementation of innovative solutions to strengthen PwC's reputation
Collaborate and team effectively with other senior internal stakeholders (General Counsel, Risk Management, Business leaders)
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience in strategic communications and corporate positioning
Has crisis agency and/or in-house crisis management experience, preferably both
Has prior experience advising and managing issues for large, complex multinational organisations
Has experience of handling multiple simultaneous crises
Has experience of managing accelerating crises driven by traditional and social media
Is able and willing to travel internationally at short notice when required
Can work demanding hours as needed in response to specific issues/events
Has experience of using analytics tools which measure and monitor crises
Has a proven track record of developing and implementing practical risk management processes and frameworks
Has a track record of proactively identifying next horizon reputation and regulatory risks and informing and influencing change within organisations to reduce the risk of crises emerging
Has a track record of developing and delivering proactive communication strategies that enhance the reputation of an organisation, as part of an integrated communications function
Is a strong strategic thinker with the ability and skill set to see the bigger picture as well as understand the nuance and details across different parts of the network
Has a track record of bringing in, and effectively using, external resources including agencies to help handle major crises
Has experience of working with legal teams, both in-house and outside counsel
Has deep experience of newsroom dynamics and can tailor strategy to influence media
Has prior experience of interacting with stakeholders from different territories/markets to identify geographical/local risks and support on preparation/management as needed
Has the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and can act decisively under pressure
Has an aptitude to triage and prioritise assignments, managing competing deadlines
Possesses excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills; able to listen to and engage effectively with senior network/global leaders during times when emotions and stakes are high
Has a proven track record of handling confidential information with sensitivity, integrity and good judgement
Works well as part of a "remote", global virtual team
Working knowledge of PwC's business/services and its external operating environment is desired but not essential.
