About Bond and the roleBond is the UK network for organisations working in international development. We unite and support a diverse network of over 400 civil society organisations to help eradicate global poverty, inequality and injustice. We strengthen and champion the sector to make international development more efficient and effective. We work to influence governments and policy–makers, develop the skills of people in the sector, share expertise, and build organisational capacity and partnerships. We are looking for a fundraising manager, with trust and foundation expertise to support us in securing the next phase of these large grants and helping us to identify and engage with other funders to diversify our funding sources. This role combines coordination with building strong relationships and supporting delivery staff to secure our funding into the future. The person will lead an informal team of delivery staff drawn from across the organisation (that meet monthly) and work closely with the CEO and Directors to establish and maintain relationships. We are looking for a shift from a relatively informal approach to more active funder management.Bond is in transition, with a new CEO, and fundraising from trusts and foundations will be an important part of whatever is next. This role is also an opportunity for the Fundraising Manager to shape the role of fundraising from trusts and foundations at Bond. The role is new and experimental, and the contract, if the role is successful, will be extended.The ideal candidate will have a track record in fundraising from major donors and a strong interest in supporting the international development sector through the work of Bond. They will be excellent at bringing teams together to submit bids, overseeing active funder management and finding the best relationships from which to secure funds.Main purpose of the jobThe main purpose of the job is to support Bond to secure the next phase of Bond's large grants and to identify and engage with new and existing funders to diversify our funding sources.

Please note that this role is part time (50%), fixed term contract (12 months). Bond would be open to a 12 month consultancy contract to fulfil the role.

Main responsibilitiesWe envisage that this role will deliver:

Coordinate our overall approach with donors and ensure key relationships are nurtured (through the SMT and key leads)Build a pipeline of prospects and track progress through the pipelineTracking our approaches and chase us for follow upContinue to identify prospectsFind routes into new funders who we want to approachReview and improve bids and oversee and coordinate large bid processes and support quality controlStandardise our fundraising approach with refreshed proposal templates etcWriting a new fundraising strategy We are also considering:

a US funder strategy and a funder event/ dinner where we thank our funders for their support and invite prospective funders.Links with an already established pipeline of corporate partners and funders The role will be supported by a number of staff who have fundraising as a small part of their roles, including the current CEO and the Director of Communications and MembershipPerson specificationEssential

Demonstrable fundraising experience with a solid grounding in raising income from trusts and foundations, major donor, philanthropists and corporates.Demonstrable understanding of how to build Bond's profile with major donors and philanthropists; identifying speaking and event opportunities for CEO and SMTAbility to bring informal teams together to combine efforts on fundraisingExperience of setting and monitoring income and expenditure budgets and providing financial analysis.Experience in research funding prospects (with knowledge of source materials) and creation and use of systems to collect data to inform decision making related to approaching funders and asking for support.Excellent communication skills.Excellent ability to compose and deliver timely and comprehensive proposals for funding.Understanding of Statutory Funding, Overseas Funding, Lottery and Grantmaking Trusts.Ability to network at a senior level.A commitment to a just and sustainable future and a strong interest in how international development will change.a demonstrable commitment to anti–racism, equity and inclusion and a commitment to Bond's values of openness, collaboration, dynamism and influence.Able to work independently and with an informal team Desirable

Fundraising certification or accreditationUnderstanding of a membership organisationExcellent IT skills and experience working with salesforce Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
