Description

The focus of this Fixed Plant Engineer role is to maintain a wide range of recycling plant and equipment and carry out general maintenance and installation as required.

You will work with the company's planned maintenance system on a day–to–day basis with the ability to work on initiative.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the primary responsibility for this Fixed Plant Engineer role will be preventative maintenance on a range of recycling and processing equipment, ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose, as well as responding to emergency machine breakdowns across the site.

This role involves dayshift working but you must be prepared to work shifts, work overtime and respond to call–outs as required in line with the remit of the post.

The Fixed Plant Engineer will also play a key part in driving the site's continuous improvement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Carry out preventative maintenance, refurbishments, and repairs.Participate in design, procurement, and installation of new equipment.Ensure all machines and work procedures are safe and fit for purpose.Ensure electrical/mechanical LOTO procedures and controls are in place as required.Work with and assist with the supervision and coordination of contractors.Undertake repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre–determined specifications.Fault–find, test, adjust and remove existing fittings, fixtures, and parts.Carry out detailed fault diagnosis to determine the fault and then undertake the most cost–effective solution to remedy the defect.Effective communication – keep management and relevant parties aware and seek advice and assistance when required.Communicate any unscheduled downtime and the corrective action required to the maintenance manager.Review and advise on engineering requirements and drawings.Actively promote safe working practices throughout the plant.Ensure all processes are conducted within safe working guidelines as determined by the Plant Manager and health & safety department.Carry out all work to a proficient and professional standard.Ensure compliance with the fundamentals of H&S.Ensure that the PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment) Regulations 1998 are adhered to, specifically, but not limited to: All equipment is suitable for its useAll equipment and machinery are maintained and repaired with adequate records Focus on safe efficient reliable maintenance of equipment to ensure the production of quality products.Make the Plant Manager aware of any maintenance issues or electrical faults in a timely and appropriate manner.Identify, with the Plant Manager, any possible process/plant improvements and implement the agreed improvements from design to commissioning.Solve problems using technical knowledge, root cause analysis and theory testing.Contribute to ensuring Maintenance & Engineering spending is efficiently managed in line with agreed budgets. Essential Skills Time–served apprenticeship.NVQ Level 3, HNC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline Desirable Skills Experience using CMMS maintenance system.
