Join the team at Thornford Park as a Fitness Instructor, where you will work 37.5 hours between Monday to Friday and be a part of meaningful change. You will join the Occupational Therapy team, where you will facilitate all fitness-based activities within the Occupational Therapy timetable. You'll enjoy support from the OT team, which consist of Registered Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants.
As a part of the programme, you'll explore and promote different elements of a healthy lifestyle, covering key topics each week such as the importance of exercise, food groups and lifestyle choices. You'll provide individual and group sessions within different locations, including a fully equipped gym and sports halls.

Your responsibilities will include to:
Competently, prepare, design, deliver, manage, and evaluate personal training programmes, group fitness and hospital-wide exercise sessions.Complete PARQ (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) assessments and risk assessments.Demonstrate a clear understanding and be able to educate others on the anatomy and physiology and its relation to exercise and health.Educate service users on nutrition and physical activity and health.Carry out audits and service maintenance on the gym and fitness equipment.Work collaboratively with members of the OT department and other disciplines. To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Previous fitness instruction experience Knowledge of mental health Completion of the relevant 'Personal trainer education' Previous experience in designing and delivering personal training programmes Some knowledge of nutrition/healthy eatingExperience of working in a mental health setting is not essentialKnowledge of mental health conditions and how they can impact motivation is crucial What you will get:
