We are partnering with a unique SME services business who have a new opening for a Financial Accountant to join their team at their easily accessible offices within Leicester LE1.
The successful candidate will aid the development of two ACCA studying Assistant Accountants whilst being the main point of call for a variety of duties including month end ownership, continuous improvement initiatives, Tax & VAT, Audit Liaison and revenue reporting into the parent company.

Key Responsibilities (Please note, prior experience on ALL duties is not required)
Month End:
Complete relevant month-end processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Own the fixed asset register and relevant postings.Prepare and post monthly Management & quarterly invoices.Prepare and post the payroll journal.Manage the quarterly loan repayment and interest payment process, including loan interest calculation.Prepare monthly cash flow reports, assisting with forecast and budget.Distribute revenue reporting to parent company on a monthly basis.
Statutory Audits:
Coordinate interim and year-end statutory audits. Respond to requests from auditors and resolve any queries to ensure timely completion.Produce regulatory returns and year-end statutory accounts, completing audit files efficiently.
Revenue Distribution to Parents:
Tax and VAT:
Ensure compliance with relevant statutory taxation regulations.Manage the preparation of corporation tax schedules.Provide information to external advisors for corporation tax calculations and returns.Ensure full compliance with HMRC guidelines on expenses and employee benefits.Prepare and file the PSA return.Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns.Monitor and review changes in tax legislation, managing necessary implementation.
Other:
Supervise and mentor two assistant accountants who will ensure clean bank reconciliations and timely investigation of unreconciled items & AP.Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes by identifying opportunities for enhancement and implementing changes.
Qualifications and Skills:
ACCA/ACA qualification or equivalent.Proven experience in financial accounting, preferably within an SME.Strong knowledge of statutory audits, taxation, and financial controls.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and leadership abilities.Prior Financial Accounts and Tax experienceExperience with tax, interpreting tax legislation and liaising with tax authorities is a huge bonus.
