Tate are delighted to be working with a local client, where their vision is recognised as having a positive impact The Finance Assistant role is integral in the business success, as it oversees the Finance departments, managing the purchase and sales accounts, ensuring timely production of financial reports, prompt collection of cash and prompt payment of invoices.

Key Responsibilities of Finance Assistant include:
Managing a small finance team, to include allocating workloads to both internal and freelance staff and where necessary recruiting temporary short-term support during busy/peak periodsEnsuring sales invoices are raised and submitted promptlyPrepare and issue statements to customers, issuing reminder letters and chasing up overdue accountsClose liaison with sales and operations to support with overdue invoices and paymentsOversee the process of purchase invoices being receipted into system, ensuring these are recorded and coded correctlyCollating approved supplier invoices, generating weekly payment runsEnsuring sub-contractors CIS status' are correctManage supplier application forms and ensure they are accurately set upCompleting credit checks on new customersPreparing VAT returnsCoordinating and directing the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and reports and reporting on any variancePreparing and issuing monthly Work In Progress statements to Finance Director on a monthly basis, in line with our finance calendarSupport month-end and year-end close processManage and comply with local and national government reporting requirements and tax filingsEnsure all transactions are recorded, filed and reported properly
Key Skills and Qualifications Required:
Experience with Xero is essential and familiarity with other accounting software would be usefulCompetent IT skills, to include MS Office, Excel, Outlook and SharePointBasic Accounts / Financial trainingPrevious work experience and knowledge as a finance controller
