Hours/shifts: various shifts available between Monday – Friday, days can be agreed at interview shift time is 10am – 6pm (8 hours shift).
I am a lovely, laid-back lady looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking personal assistant. I have MS (multiple sclerosis) and am reliant on a Wheelchair. I am a very easy-going person and really enjoy socialising. This includes going to the Cinema, going out for lunch and to coffee shops. I require a personal assistant who is confident to support me with preparing food as well as assistance to eat, domestic duties and some social support. Description
Typical duties
Domestic -
Laundry, ironing, putting away
Loading and unloading the washing machine/ tumble dryer
Changing bed linen and Bed making
General cleaning and tidying
Taking out rubbish
General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Support with online food shopping
Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork
Making phone calls on my behalf as and when required
Making tea for the employer's guests
Personal Care:
All my transfers are using a hoist- training will be given.
Catheter care on very rare occasions- only for experienced PA’s so not essential
Social:
Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities e.g. lunch out, coffee shop or pub
Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails if and when required
Occasional longer journeys
The above duties will using buses or accessible taxi’s.
Accompany to doctors and hospital appointments as and when required

The successful applicant will be:
Female due to personal care needs
Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good time-keeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Honest and cheerful
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
