Our partner, BAE Systems, are seeking experienced Platers and Fabricators to join their growing Fabrication team in Glasgow on a 12 month contract, offering competitive rates for both locals and those willing to commute from further afield.
As part of a specialist team, you'll be working on the latest generation of naval frigates, the Type 26.

What will I be doing?
As a Fabricator in the world of shipbuilding, your role is nothing short of pivotal, as you assemble the very structure of ships from their shell and decks to bulkheads, frames, and longitudinals. With precision and expertise, you'll mark off materials and fit and fair steelwork to maintain the ship's integrity.
You'll fabricate ship items like seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels, as well as outfitting ships with fitting hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats, and false flooring. You'll learn how to level and align large ship structures during build, along with the lifting and transportation of these structures during the build process.
You'll play a key role in preparing ships to go to sea making vessels seaworthy for launch and sea trials, manufacturing launch slipways, as well overseeing plate preparation and docking. You'll use different methods to support you in Plating, including Hand Grinding and fuel gas cutting).
