About this client/child: Arthur is well known to Snap Care, he is a charming, engaging, mischievous and cheeky 10-year-old. He is at the heart of a loving and supportive family and has a care team providing 1:1 support during the day. Arthur sustained an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and has associated social and communication difficulties. His brain injury presents very similarly to Autism Spectrum Condition. He uses his PODD book / iPad, Makaton, and gestures to support his communication and is making great progress with his rehabilitation programme. He is very capable and strives for his independence, however for his safety, he requires very close supervision and support with his self-care tasks. Arthur responds best to clear communicators and people who are consistent in their approach.
Overview of role: Arthur is an active, energetic, and outgoing young lad and requires a SEN Nanny / Manny who can help support and assist him with his therapeutic goals. The SEN Nanny / Manny will work alongside his MDT, and with support and training, implement his rehabilitation programme. Arthur has several therapists involved in his care, including a Neuro Psychologist, OT, SALT, and Music therapist. Arthur comes home from school on transport and your role will be to arrange and plan activities both at home and in the community, and support Arthur with his self-help and care tasks. Duties such as meal prep, light household chores to be completed before Arthur arrives from school. Ther are additional hours available during school holidays and weekends.
Who this job would suit: An experienced SEN Nanny / Manny with a teaching mindset and approach to their work, a self-confident and calm character with previous experience supporting a child with ASC and behavioral needs. A driver, non-smoker/vaper, and confident swimmer are essential.
What’s great about this job: The current team working with Arthur all say they love the opportunity of having so much access to training in terms of therapy and the ongoing support system in place. There is flexibility in terms of the hours / days – the key is to have the right person and skillset to join the team!
