Job Title: Education Officer, Behind the Headlines
Contract type: 12 month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension until the end of the 24/25 academic year.
Salary: We strive for transparency in remuneration. The salary range for this role is GBP33,000 - GBP35,000 per annum.
Hybrid working: 3-4 days per week at Kings Place, London / 1-2 days per week working from home.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Education Officer to join our Behind the Headlines team.
About the Role
Our Behind the Headlines programme empowers young people aged 11-25 to understand, critically analyse, engage with and participate in the media. We deliver innovative and authentic workshops, rooted in journalism and educational best practice.
The majority of this role will involve teaching and facilitating workshops to young people aged 11-18. This will be through full and half day workshops in our onsite Education Centre learning space alongside shorter virtual sessions. The successful candidate will be learning focused, adaptable, able to use their initiative and deliver engaging high quality educational experiences.
About You
You'll be passionate about inspiring young people to engage with the news and supporting them to develop critical media literacy skills. As a qualified teacher, you will need at least three years teaching experience in secondary education in a relevant subject combined with a wide knowledge of the curriculum and current education initiatives. You will have strong digital skills and be confident using and teaching with technology. Enthusiasm and creative thinking are essential and you should have a real desire for inclusion and widening participation in the media industry. Key Responsibilities
Teaching news and media literacy workshops to schools and other educational groups using IT onsite at the Education Centre and virtually. Planning, reviewing and evaluating workshops and activities to ensure high quality outcomes and maximum impact. Creating and developing news and media literacy resources for teachers and students. Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders e.g. schools, universities, community groups, teachers, educators, partners.
