Title: Ecologist
Salary: 30,000 - 35,000

My client is looking for a skilled Ecologist who will play a crucial role in supporting our projects and initiatives across the Manchester region. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting ecological assessments, surveys, and analyses to inform land management decisions, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and promoting sustainable practices.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.Proven experience in ecological surveying, assessment, and impact analysis.Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and regulations.Strong fieldwork skills, including plant and animal identification.Excellent data analysis and report writing skills.Proficient in using GIS and other relevant ecological software.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM) is desirable.Key Responsibilities
Conduct ecological surveys, habitat assessments, and biodiversity studies to gather relevant data for environmental impact assessments.Analyse and interpret ecological data to provide informed recommendations for sustainable land use and development projects.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including planners, engineers, and environmental scientists, to integrate ecological considerations into project planning and design.Prepare and contribute to environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and ecological reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.Provide expertise on local flora and fauna, identifying and assessing potential impacts on ecosystems.Develop and implement habitat restoration and conservation plans to enhance biodiversity in designated areas.Stay abreast of environmental legislation, policies, and best practices to ensure compliance and promote environmentally responsible practices.Assist in public consultations and community engagement activities related to ecological aspects of projects.
