My story
Duchess von Willow is an adorable 4-month old German shepherd mix puppy with stunning ‘panda’ markings. Duchess is a happy, carefree puppy with lofty dreams of being an agility champion! Based on what her foster family has seen, we think she will achieve that goal. Duchess loves her WGSR fur-brother and keeps him entertained with games of tug of war (with his tail) and group-zoomies around the yard. After her zoomies, Duchess loves nothing more than to cuddle in her foster-mom’s lap and give puppy kisses. Duchess is on the smaller side but is a very confident puppy who loves everyone she meets. This girl had a hard start to life but doesn’t let that get her down. She deserves the best in life and will repay her new family with endless puppy kisses and cuddles (and also some zoomies and wrestling matches). Duchess lives in a foster home with a CAT whom she loves and other dogs. She would love a big dog to play with in her forever home!
Duchess von Willow is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Duchess von Willow, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
