Job Title: Domestic Personal Assistant

Summary
I have a daughter who was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome at birth. She is now 21 and going to college from Worthing to Chichester during terms times. I am looking for a committed domestic personal assistant to support me in my home who could also potentially offer occasional respite care evenings, weekends, holidays if desired and you have the relevant skills or experience working with adults with learning and speech & language difficulties.
The work will involve general tidying, housework and cleaning and I am looking for someone reliable, organised, hygienic and tidy minded, preferably with experience whether professional or personal.
Other Requirements
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
It is preferred that you have experience and already possess an up to date DBS
Description
Typical Duties
Domestic:
Regular general cleaning
Vacuuming, dusting
Washing floors
Cleaning the bathroom
Laundry, hanging washing out to dry, ironing and putting away
Changing bed linen
Bed making
Taking out rubbish
Occasional minor household maintenance e.g. Changing lightbulbs
Occasionally preparing drinks, snacks and meals
Washing and drying dishes
Putting away shopping and keeping kitchen cupboards tidy
Cleaning windows
General tidying
Descaling kettles, iron, bathroom taps and fittings/toilet occasionally
Wiping the inside and outside of Fridge/Freezer and washing machine occasionally
Cleaning cooker
Any other reasonable domestic chores/ household tasks
Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
• Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
• Reliable with good time-keeping
• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Medically fit and healthy, no allergies to undertake the required duties
• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Honest and cheerful
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
• DBS issued within the last 3 months preferable but not essential
