The Salvation Army is looking for a practising Christian to join our Research & Development team (R&D) as a Development Manager. R&D's purpose is to empower local mission to flourish through information gathering, research, development support and spiritual reflection.
Development projects support the development of church and community work. These often focus on the early stages of capital projects which provide mission and activity spaces, these in turn enable mission and programme that transform lives.
Our team of Development Managers provide a service which guides our customers through the work up of projects from concept to full proposals, before they are handed over to our Property team to implement. R&D act as both an advocate and a critical friend to develop robust, sustainable, and fully funded project proposals to present to our internal boards. The team work on projects for internal customers including our local church and community centres, Homelessness Services, and Older People's Services. The role involves project management within our processes, facilitation of small groups, and stakeholder communication, coupled with leading others in processes of spiritual discernment. While the portfolio of projects in R&D covers the UK and Ireland it is expected that the primary focus of this role will be projects in London, the South East and East of England.
Summary of key responsibilities:
Be motivated by a personal Christian faith and be able to position yourself to lead others in processes of spiritual discernment, led by the Holy Spirit Act as a project manager and enabler Manage a project portfolio Employ appropriate processes to ensure due diligence Facilitate Project Steering Groups combining project management and faith-based facilitation methodology The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Experience of successful project management Ability to facilitate meetings effectively Effective communication skills in person and in writing Excellent relationship and stakeholder management Confidence to live out the purpose of TSA through your Christian faith, exercise your spiritual gifts for the benefit of TSA and your projects, and lead others in a process of spiritual discernment. This role has an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practicing Christian - Equality Act 2010.
