The Opportunity:
Chiltern Music Therapy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compliance Lead to ensure that the organisation complies with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies. The Compliance Lead will play a crucial role in safeguarding the organisation's reputation and maintaining high ethical standards. This position involves monitoring and assessing compliance risks, developing compliance programmes and designing and implementing training, so that all staff can be compliant in their everyday duties.

About you:
We are looking for someone who is:
Meticulously organised and detail-focused with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
A great communicator and listener - from / to and between practitioners, board of directors, membership rep and external orgs such as Wirehouse.
Confidence to challenge all of the above, ask questions and identify gaps and tensions
Flexible in your approach (be able to see and understand the legal frameworks and make it adaptable for the team)
An excellent project manager - you will need to oversee existing projects within data retention that involve different areas of the organisation (although you will have an external person / guide on the specifics of data retention in our sector).
Able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
A completer-finisher - please be aware that this role will be highly administrative at times!
Experienced in compliance, preferably in a UK non-profit or health-care related setting with a strong understanding of UK regulations in these sectors.
Salary and Hours:
1 day/8 hours per week
Hours: working within our core hours of Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Flexible working options are available and can be discussed. Must be available to work part of these hours on a Monday and flexibly across the week.
PAYE salary range GBP25,000-GBP27,000, pro-rata, per annum depending on experience
Fixed term contract for 12 months with the potential to extend.

Key responsibilities:
The role will have a highly internal focus, with some time allocated to external horizon scanning and stakeholders.
Inward focus:
Perform an analysis of the applicable rules for a not for profit music therapy organisation
Perform annually a risk assessment identifying the key compliance risks facing the organisation
Work closely with the team delivering or sourcing training, or training materials, to support them to be compliant in their everyday work. This will include Music Therapists and Community Musicians, and operational roles such as finance, HR and scheduling.
Help staff understand and be compliant with our policies, through training, being in regular contact on slack or phone, check-ins and innovative, educational approaches.
Regularly review policies, procedures and ways of working on health & safety, GDPR, data retention and weeding, and risk assessments.
Outward focus:
Be main point of contact for our external HR and IT partners, gaining expertise and insight on current trends / horizon scanning through their bulletins and webinars - what does Chiltern need to know?
Adapt and evolve more general learnings into Chiltern's culture, finding ways to make external changes fit the needs of the organisation.
Seek additional support and training through other channels, such as Social Enterprise UK, and local business support networks.
Perform an annual assessment of the effectiveness of Wirehouse
Awareness of, or willingness to learn about:
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards of practice for Music Therapists
Risks (and how to manage them) specific to Music Therapy and Community music work
The types of data we hold and the guidelines around these
How to introduce and implement organisational-wide training and updates
Data retention, weeding and GDPR framework
Compliance with ICO
You will work on duties across the broader needs of Health and Safety and Data across the organisation and will need to implement various projects internally, to ensure the below duties are met.
Role Specifics:
You will be accountable for overseeing and reviewing (with relevant members of the team) all our policies on an annual basis. There is support to help with the various policies but the role holder will be required to project manage this efficiently and on time. These include Health and Safety, Data and Cybersecurity.
