Bound in de-luxe three quarter mottled tan leather over marbled boards and endpapers. Top edges gilt. Raised bands to spine, elaborate blind stamped and gilt decorations, gilt titles to spine labels. Silk bookmarks bound-in. The first 17 volumes complete with many tissue guarded full page illustrations and heavily illustrated with images within the text. The final 18th volume being the index and general table.
Condition: All volumes in very good plus condition, pages all crisp and clean, no inscriptions, bindings tight solid and with only light signs of age, a really scarce and very good set.
A scarce complete eighteen volumes of André Michel's mammoth history of art, tracing art from the early Christian times, right up to the early twentieth century, illustrated throughout with dozens of plates.
Great decorative set or use as a reference.
