Compliance Auditor

Overview
British Gas Business (BGB) is the leading provider of energy to SMEs in the UK and is focused on helping its customers use energy simply, sustainably and affordably.
We are recruiting a Compliance Auditor. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the British Gas Business governance framework relating to the Commercial function's demand forecasting, pricing, product development, route to market, financial planning and commodity procurement activities. You will also be involved in the creation, implementation and review of operational controls to manage process, financial, compliance and regulatory risk, working with process owners and wider business stakeholders.
The Role
In your new role you will lead the business adoption of governance frameworks and manage ongoing compliance monitoring.
You will identify and mitigate risk through the implementation of effective costing, pricing, demand forecasting, hedging and financial data controls. You will also work with the relevant teams to deliver and influence the direction of IS system changes to manage process and financial risk. Knowledge is required of the legal, regulatory and compliance obligations for relevant commercial activities, and being a point of contact for this knowledge within Commercial and the wider business is part of your role.
You will provide support for the Commercial team's regulatory activity both in terms of future changes to the industry and marketplace and input into responses to the Regulator.
You will also work with Conduct and Governance and with Marketing to ensure that Commercial policies and literature (internal and external communications, Ts & Cs, letter wording, and digital content) are all compliant with regulations and that we are able to fulfil them.
Lastly, you will support the management of team governance, ensuring that the annual plan is clearly laid out and achievement against milestones is reviewed regularly and is well understood, managing any slippages accordingly.
The Person
For this role you will be required to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and engage senior management teams and produce complex policy documentation to a high standard. You will also be comfortable handling complex numeric data. You will be highly organized and used to working to tight deadlines with multiple deliverables and large stakeholder groups. You will have had experience managing change delivery, be a keen problem solver and be able to remove barriers to delivering results. Experience in an audit role (including consultancy) or compliance role would be highly advantageous.
It would be desirable if you have an understanding of the commodities markets, including the zero carbon and renewable energy landscape and associated regulation. An awareness financial risk management and the risks associated with pricing and hedging activities would also be beneficial.
