CNC Programmer Machinist

Main purpose:
The main purpose of the role is to produce machined items of tooling, utilising various metal
machining centres, whilst operating independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- inputting product designs into CNC machining centres
- programming, setting and operating milling and turning centres
- programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres
- selecting and loading suitable cutting tools to optimise time and cost
- producing small batch quantities of mechanical tooling items, to drawing specifications
- performing quality checks on WIP and finished goods
- producing parts within an acceptable timescale, as agreed with the line manager
- mechanical assembly of tooling, within a defined timescale
- have the ability to resolve any problems identified
- be flexible with respect to daily tasks and responsibilities
- have an awareness and responsibility towards health and safety and work in a manner that
keeps you and those around you safe
- maintaining a clean and tidy work area
Experience and Qualifications
- ideally be time served / completed apprenticeship as a miller and/or turner
- previous experience of working in a machine shop environment
- extensive experience with computer modelling software
- strong attention to detail
- an ability to read and interpret 2D drawings
- an ability to use AutoCAD/Fusion 360
- an ability to work with other disciplines in workshop
- the development of new skills both in and outside of your core discipline
- good communicational (oral, reading and writing) skills.
- an ability to analyse/problem-solve, as issues arise
