Our shared purpose and vision will continually move us forward to make a difference to our people, our communities, our partners, and to the world around us.

Our Clinical Research Governance Manager will play a key role in enabling this strategy by ensuring the policies, processes and arrangements for clinical governance and sponsorship are effective, that research is progressed smoothly, and that expert input and support from the team is readily available.

Working in a team of Research, Ethics, Governance and Compliance (REGC) subject specialists, with the support of the Head of REGC, you will lead the specialist provision of guidance to university researchers on clinical studies and trials within the context of the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research and institutional policies for assuring high quality research.

You will be responsible for supporting researchers in setting up projects, the oversight of ongoing studies, and for ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in full respect of the standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Together with the team, will be responsible for the governance of sponsorship by providing expert support, coaching and teaching for researchers on obtaining the appropriate authorisations and will provide an effective link between external stakeholders (principally NHS partners), research teams and relevant University professional services staff.

About you

You will have worked in a clinical governance role before and have the knowledge and skill to ensure our researchers have access to the information and support they need to progress through the approval gateways. Always focussed on providing the right support first time, you will have a keen eye for detail and enjoy supporting academics with their applications.

In your career to date, you have developed effective policies, SOPs and may have undertaken audits, you are likely to have been involved in service improvement and have carried out reviews of the service to ensure they are working well.

You will have worked in a committed team and have experience in supporting colleagues around you to ensure the policies and processes are fully embedded. You will enjoy taking initiative, being a well-known point of contact for academic staff or a key point of liaison for the NHS, MHRA and other key stakeholders and have experience in presenting progress reports to oversight and governance groups.

In this role, you can enjoy high levels of autonomy, and this can be achieved by working from home, or working in the office, and we will work with you to the perfect balance of home/ office working that suits you best.
