Our Client Affairs Team provides a Deputyship and Appointeeship service of last resort for vulnerable adults who have been assessed as lacking capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs.
With responsibility for a caseload of clients, you'll ensure their income is maximised and their assets are safeguarded from abuse and exploitation. In accordance with the Mental Capacity Act, you'll empower people to make decisions where they can, or make decisions in their best interests with regard to their known beliefs, wishes and preferences.
Working closely with clients, their relatives, carers, and professional support, you'll manage your clients' resources effectively to meet their needs and improve their quality of life. By visiting your clients, you'll develop and maintain effective relationships, gaining valuable insight into their needs and aspirations.
Your knowledge of the state benefits payable by the Department for Work and Pensions, as well as an understanding of eligibility and entitlement, is essential. We regularly liaise with the Court of Protection and Office of the Public Guardian, so an awareness of their role and purpose is desirable.
As well as a person-centred approach to your work, you'll have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong numeracy, budgeting and IT skills will also be key. You'll have the confidence to work independently, organise your own workload, and manage conflicting demands and competing deadlines in an assured manner. Working with professional curiosity, creativity and innovation, you'll ensure the best outcomes for your clients, with the confidence to challenge the accepted or expected view when advocating on behalf of your client.
We recognise the positive contribution our team make to the lives of service users, which is why we offer a commitment to your continued personal development and wellbeing, alongside an extensive Benefits Package.
