Senior Support Worker - Children's Your new company

Hays are proud to be working on behalf of a reputable charity who provides support to children within care. They are a growing organisation who have just opened a brand new residential home in Bury St Edmunds. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Children Support Worker who is looking for their next step up in their career to senior and who is passionate about supporting children in residential care.

Your new role

As a Children's Senior Support Worker, you will be working hands-on, providing everyday support to children in a residential setting. These children have unfortunately been through extreme trauma and therefore need to be supported throughout the day and night.

You will be working within a close-knit staff team, providing emotional and therapeutic support, promoting independence and organising activities for these young people.

This is a full-time position and the hours will vary between mornings, evenings, sleep ins and weekends. The full-time working hours are 38 per week.

Your Senior duties will include assisting the management team to support, direct and utilise staff to make sure the children's and household's values and aims are being met.

You will also be responsible for administering medication and being involved in speaking with schools, social workers, parents, family, GP's, nurses and other external agencies.

What you'll need to succeed

You must be patient and willing to thrive within a team environment. You must also be resilient to be able to manage challenging situations.

You must have a minimum of 12 months experience working in residential childcare and hold a level 3 or above qualification in childcare.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a competitive rate of pay of up to GBP30,700 per annum depending on qualifications and including sleep in's. Any overtime worked is also paid at an hourly rate.
