90k - 100k plus bonus and package

A senior engineering role for those at that level looking for a new challenge and possibly relocation to the South Coast. As the Chief engineer you would develop the structures and redefine/review the engineering agenda. This is a critical role for the business, and we are looking for an expert that wants to be involved and be amongst other members of a practical senior leadership team - Does this sound like you?
The site is embarking on a continuous improvement journey to become more efficient in its operations. This requires the team to look differently at the process' and understand the business from an end-to-end prospect not purely a functional perspective. The Chief engineer will play a key role in the next phase of the site development, working with the Head of Continuous Improvement to drive positive change.
Leading a team of shift engineering managers/maintenance managers to support the level of quality and customer service this business works to is all part of the challenge. Balancing the needs of the strategic agenda and daily activities that come with this type of role requires an individual who is comfortable being involved in the factory close to the team, driving that 'one team' culture and setting the strategy.
Being dynamic and able to look ahead, plan and organise effectively are skills that make for great leaders. Pulling all that together to support the business, meet the daily order deadlines with an eye on the top line agenda, will attract those who are up for a move to this fast paced business.
Kay areas of the role
Setting the strategic long term and short-term objectives for the engineering function.Good structure is in place in terms of the systems and processes but there is always room for improvement and change to maximise efficiencies - it is seeing those opportunities and acting on them.Working closely with Operations, Technical and Supply Chain and being a key player in bringing all those functions together with other stakeholdersReporting directly to the Senior Team - this is a visible role in the business, achievement is rewarded here.The Site Director promotes an efficient and progressive culture within the business.High standards and procedures are in place and adhered to across all activities be that maintenance, CAPEX projects, management of contractors etc.As always, a constant focus on Safety, Quality and Hygiene is essential.
What experience do you need for this Chief Engineer role?
A senior engineering professional who has managed and grown engineering teams in similar paced environments.An understanding of complex manufacture, leading teams to meet challenging deadline and adapting to changes in demand - reacting effectively to unexpected changes.Your people management skills are a mix of being personable, approachable and you have procedures to ensure the detail isn't missed.As above, being tenacious, resilient and the energy required in these roles is essential.A confident operator, your approach is professional, people engage with you and want to listen.Financially and commercially astute as a member of the Senior Management Team. You fully understand how the engineering function impacts on that all-important bottom-line figure.
