Chess/bridge/backgammon tuition North London/Herts. Two of us that teach the three games. Chess taught all the way from 5 years old going up to any age. Chess can be very beneficial taught at an early stage as definitely can help with not just with critical thinking etc but overall learning at school and picking up/grasping other subjects. The point of the game is to checkmate the opponent’s king and by doing so you have to receive and analyze information, and it is this that can aid in improving both Maths and English at school. Children who grow up in the far east have better psychomotor development learning to play chess at an early age than those who dont. Which is why in countries in far east are taught this game at an early stage of life.
Backgammon another board game helps with numerical ability but more so from personal experience is probably more fun and once the basics are learnt can be very enjoyable to play, my personal favorite. Backgammon is really good for early arithmetical learning and as already stated is really fun which goes a long way with children.
And lastly bridge more a game to keep seniors sharp. Bridge teaches you logic, reasoning, quick thinking, patience, concentration and partnership skills.
