A leading manufacturing business is recruiting a Category Buyer. Applicants need direct procurement experience gained within a production, manufacturing or engineering business, and be familiar with a commodity approach to procurement.
The Category Buyer will work closely with a Commodity Manager to develop and execute direct procurement strategies. Supporting a large production manufacturing facility, the Category Buyer can expect to source across; raw materials (metallic, timber, composites, resins) engineered components, plastics, electronic control systems, and COTS. The role represents an excellent opportunity to join a mature and successful procurement team.
Specific duties of the Category Buyer include:
Supply market intelligence activities – understand supplier landscape of assigned commoditiesSupplier selection, review and de–selection activitiesOperational supply chain management activities – drive against OTD, OTIF etcNegotiate, place and manage contracts and purchase orders with suppliersOn–going SRM and vendor management activities – management of supplier scorecardsFoster excellent relationships with relevant stakeholders across the business Category Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
Procurement experience within a production manufacturing or engineering businessAbility to negotiate and drive improved performance from suppliersA broad understanding of the indirect supplier landscapeDegree / CIPS – desirable, but not essential
