GO BEYOND
Go Beyond is the charity giving children and young people facing serious challenges in their lives the chance for a break that lasts a lifetime.
On breaks under wide open skies in the countryside, Go Beyond's expert staff and committed volunteers give children and young people who have been bereaved, abused or bullied, who are living in poverty or caring for loved ones the chance to escape their worries and pressures. To have the moments and experiences they need to believe in themselves and think beyond the day-to-day for a bigger, brighter future.
VOLUNTEERING ON BREAK?
You will join our team of fully trained Break Leaders and up to three other volunteers, from Monday through to Friday, supporting up to 16 young people, aged 8 to 13 years old on a residential break at one of our centres in Derbyshire or Cornwall. Our staff are fully trained and experienced in dealing with any challenging situations, so you'll never need to handle anything alone.
Your role is to be a fun, positive, yet responsible person, be a listening ear for the young people, play games and join in with a wide range of activities and help to inspire positivity by encouraging each child or young person and taking an interest in what they are doing. Our volunteers also share some weekly duties around the house, but most importantly make sure you enjoy yourself.
THE PROCESS
We have an online application portal, please follow the link. Online Induction of about 30 minutes at a pre-arranged time. Enhanced DBS check. We will ask for two successful references. Commit to a break date and sort out travel arrangements. Arrive and have an onsite induction.
OTHER INFORMATION
Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old at the time of the break. We can pick you up from Plymouth, Par or Derby railway station if needed. All food and accommodation are provided and we regularly meet a wide range of dietary needs. Accommodation is usually shared with another volunteer. The safeguarding of our young people is paramount in all that we do.
