Here is a brief excerpt taken from the auction description;Bentleys Continental GT has been the most successful car in the brands history, coming in at 100,000 cars produced over the last 20 years.However its just the latest in a long line of Continentals that dates back as far as Bentleys presence in Crewe itself, harking back to a model line from its then owner Rolls Royce.RR used the name as a special specification for some models, designed around a shorter wheelbase with reworked suspension and gearing to make for the ideal cross continent grand tourer, thus the name.Bentleys first Continental came about in a very similar fashion, created as a performance package for the Silver Dawn based R Type. With a lightweight body and upgraded engine, the R Type Continental was one of the most expensive and exclusive cars in the world.The Continental continued through the Shadow based S Series, before a break in the run as Rolls Royce introduced a new Shadow with a unibody construction, built by Bentley as the T Series, without a Continental model.Viewing is strongly encouraged, and this lot is located with the vendor in Bedlington, Northumberland.
